A STUDY ON PERCEPTIONS OF WASTE MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AWARENESS AT SPORTS EVENTS IN JAKARTA, INDONESIA
The thesis evaluates the impact of waste management practices on environmental
sustainability at sporting events in Indonesia. The aim is to provide insights into
waste perceptions, gender differences, and sustainable strategies through three
main objectives. First, it reviews existing theories on waste and its management,
particularly in the context of environmental sustainability awareness at sporting
events. Second, it gathers perceptions through primary research in Jakarta,
specifically highlighting gender differences in waste management at sporting
events. Finally, the study formulates recommendations to improve waste
management for future sustainability while addressing gender disparities. The
methodology includes a mixed methods approach, combining literature review
and empirical analysis through surveys. Findings reveal significant gender
differences in waste perceptions, highlighting the need for customized,
comprehensive strategies in sports events. The thesis concludes that personalized
waste management strategies are essential for sustainable sports events.
Recommendations include gender-specific waste management strategies,
comprehensive awareness campaigns, partnerships with environmental
organizations, and ongoing evaluation. Future research could focus on long-term
studies, cross-cultural analysis, behavioral influences, and technology integration
to advance sustainable waste practices at sporting events in Indonesia.
